Feature

Chinese is the only pictographic language in the world, each character similar to art. Inside every concept of Chinese word consists of humanities and history. It can be said to be the most meaningful characters and language. Being artistic is one of the Chinese character specialties. Chinese Language Center will teach from the basic pronunciation, pinyin (Romanized Phonetic System), reading, etc. It will enable the students to use the four tones of Chinese words, enjoy the beauty, the shape, the tone, the structure beauty of Chinese characters and integrate with their daily life. Students can put what they have learned in classes into practice. The grammar and the vocabulary will be taught by situational language learning which could strengthen students’ memory and it will be easier to assimilate into the local’s society and culture. With the help of the community, students can learn Chinese efficiently.

Contents

Each class range from 10 to 15 students. The target of this course is to integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing, which emphasis on virtual living uses. The teaching materials are prepared by teachers which included literature, examples, contemporary and classical as major to emphasize in the Taiwan’s specialty, and Chinese culture is the combination of the student’s local folklore. With the help of the teaching content, student’s background, and application of flexible teaching methods, it will develop students’ basic literature and the virtue of culture.

General Course

The academic year is divided into two semesters which is based on the school’s calendar.

 

Time of the Course:

Dates: Monday to Thursday

Hours: 8:10 am-12:00pm 

15 hours per week, 18 weeks per semester, a total of 270 hours.

Short-Term Program

The Short-term Course is a 2 or 3-hour-course per week for the NPUST International students with academic degrees and short-term exchanged students.

  1. Semester Course:
    It offers courses each year according to the term of university. Each term lasts for 10 weeks and 3 hours per week.
  2. Summer Course:
    This course lasts for 4 weeks and 12 hours per week.
  3. Winter Course:
    This course lasts for 3 weeks and 12 hours per week.

Cultural Camp for Language Learning

The program of Cultural Camp for Language Learning is consisted of 4 parts: Mandarin Class, Culture Course, NPUST Feature Course, and Culture Tourism in Southern Taiwan. Which is aims to encourage students to broaden horizons in various fields by do-it-yourself. Also, participants are going to have an introduction to Mandarin Chinese learning.

    Through practical oral Chinese courses, students can learn the terms of clothing, food, housing, transportation, and entertainment in the shortest time, combined with the local cultural experience of South Taiwan; Featured Courses from different departments help students discover an interest in professional fields; Explore the local culture of Southern Taiwan, so that students can experience the natural beauty and ethnic diversity of Taiwan.
