Transportation from Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) to NPUST
Please note that our center does not provide airport pickup services. Students are required to arrange their own transportation to campus.
Option 1: MRT + Train + Taxi
- Take the Kaohsiung MRT (Red Line) from Kaohsiung International Airport Station to Kaohsiung Main Station.
- Transfer to the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) and take a train to Pingtung Station.
- Take a taxi from Pingtung Station to NPUST (approximately 30 minutes).
Option 2: Direct Taxi
- You may take a taxi directly from Kaohsiung International Airport to NPUST.
- Travel time: approximately 1–1.5 hours
- Estimated fare: NT$1,500–2,000, depending on traffic conditions and the taxi company

A scooter rental service is available at the parking lot in front of the General Building. You may rent a light electric scooter (license required) or a mini electric scooter (no license needed).
Student Card required during the rental procedure.
Fees: NTD 830-930/month (Depends on the scooter type)

The university provides on-campus dormitories for international students. When completing the application form, please indicate whether you require dormitory accommodation. The dormitories are located on campus and are within walking distance of the classroom building (General Building). Male and female students are housed separately.
Students who prefer to rent off-campus housing must make their own arrangements. Please note that the Language Center does not assist with off-campus housing, and students are responsible for their own accommodation and personal safety.

- NT$7,129 per semester (excluding summer and winter breaks)
- NT$420 per week during summer and winter breaks
Accommodation during summer and winter breaks requires a separate application. Application information will be announced during the semester, and students must apply in person at the Student Life Counseling Section (1st Floor, General Building).

- Mandarin Speaking Competition for International Students
A Mandarin Speaking Competition for International Students is held each semester, providing students with opportunities to practice spoken Mandarin and demonstrate their language proficiency. Outstanding participants may receive recognition and incentives.
- Cultural Experience and Language Exchange with Taiwanese Students
The Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Culture Club organizes an annual Cultural Experience and Language Exchange with Taiwanese Students during the spring semester. International and local students participate in interactive activities, encouraging the use of Mandarin and promoting cultural exchange.
Accident Insurance
The Language Center arranges group accident insurance for international students enrolled in our programs. The insurance coverage takes effect from the first day of classes each semester.
Insurance Requirement
- Newly enrolled students are required to enroll in accident insurance.
- MOFA Taiwan Scholarship students are required to enroll for the first 7 months.
- Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) students are required to enroll for the first 6 months.
- General international students are required to enroll for the first 5 months.
- Students who already hold a Taiwan National Health Insurance (NHI) card are not required to join this accident insurance.
- Students who already hold legal residency in Taiwan and have purchased their own insurance must sign a waiver form to decline enrollment.
- Students who choose not to enroll in accident insurance shall be fully responsible for their own safety and any related consequences.
Insurance Fee
NT$500 per month
International students who hold an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and have resided in Taiwan for six consecutive months are eligible to apply for the National Health Insurance (NHI) program.
Eligibility Rules
- During the six-month period, only one departure from Taiwan is allowed.
- The departure must not exceed 30 days, and the total period of residence must equal six full months.
Required Documents for NHI Application
Please bring the following documents to the National Health Insurance Administration (NHI) Office:
- ARC (Alien Resident Certificate)
- One 2-inch photo
- Personal stamp
NHI Premium
Approximately NT$826 per month (The premium amount may be adjusted annually according to government regulations.)
Important Reminder
Before leaving Taiwan permanently, students must cancel their NHI coverage at the National Health Insurance Administration (NHI) office.
HES and MOFA scholarship recipients are required to open a Chunghwa Post savings account to receive their scholarship payments.

- Official proof of scholarship award
- Personal stamp (chop)

Important Notice
Effective June 13, 2025, Chunghwa Post no longer accepts new account applications from foreign nationals without a registered residence address in Taiwan using only a passport.
According to the updated regulation:
- Foreign students who need to receive a scholarship and can provide a passport, UI No. Certificate, and valid proof of scholarship are eligible to open a savings account.
- Students who cannot provide proof of scholarship must first obtain an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) before applying for a Chunghwa Post bank account.
